Pleasantville 19, Sterling 8

The Pleasantville High School varsity football team combined a punishing rushing attack and a stingy defense to defeat Sterling 19-8 in a NJSIAA Group II consolation game on Friday, Nov. 10.

Pleasantville’s Khaleef Wilson, Scott Godfrey and Jamil Gerald scored on touchdown runs for the Greyhounds, who improved to 2-7 on the season.

Wilson ran for a game-high 105 yards on 10 carries and opened the scoring on a three-yard run in the first quarter.

Godfrey ran in from five yards out in the third quarter to put Pleasantville in front 13-8. Godfrey finished with 89 yards on 11 carries.

Pleasantville received its final points when Gerald ran in from the seven yard line in the fourth quarter.

Sterling dropped to 3-6 with the loss.

Pleasantville hosts Ocean City at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 23 in the annual Thanksgiving Day game.

 

Toms River North 31, Mainland 7

Sophomore quarterback Brent Caprio scored on a 15-yard run in the third quarter as the Mustangs dropped an NJSIAA Group IV consolation game to Toms River North on Friday, Nov. 10.

Mainland fell to 4-5 on the season and suffered its third-consecutive loss.

The Mustangs are idle until they host Egg Harbor Township 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 23.

 

Oakcrest 13, Cherry Hill West 10

Freshman quarterback Craig James gave an indication of what Oakcrest might look like in the future as he engineered a 11-play, 65-yard drive and scored on a one-yard plunge to lead the Falcons past Cherry Hill West 13-10 in a NJSIAA Group III consolation game on Friday, Nov. 10.

Oakcrest has now won two straight games and improved to 3-6 for the season.

Cherry Hill West dropped to 3-6.

Oakcrest hosts Absegami at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 23.
