There’s no place like home, especially for the Holy Spirit High School varsity girls basketball team.

The Lady Spartans won their 10^th consecutive home contest in defeating Holy Cross 57-24 Thursday, March 1 in a New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association Non-public Group A first-round playoff game.

The Lady Spartans, 22-7 overall and 10-0 at home, jumped out to a 19-10 lead after one quarter and held a 31-14 advantage at halftime.

Holy Spirit continued to pull away during the third and fourth quarters, outscoring Holy Cross 26-10 after halftime.

Division I-bound Chelsi Johnson led the Lady Spartans with 18 points and 10 rebounds and was followed by 4-foot-11 guard Nikki Kuhar, who added eight points.

Holy Spirit, the No. 3 seed travels to play at No. 2 seed Red Bank on Saturday, March 3.

Holy Spirit is the only girls team of out the 20-school Cape-Atlantic League to remain undefeated at home this season.

On the boys side, Atlantic City is perfect at 14-0 at home.
