Absegami earns birth in final

The Group IV South defending champion Absegami High School varsity girls basketball team earned a return trip to the group final by defeating visiting Lenape 51-41 on Friday, March 2.

Sara Mostafa scored 27 points and pulled down 22 rebounds and teammate Tara Booker popped in 14 points and pulled down 20 rebounds for the 22-4 Lady Braves

No. 1 seed Absegami led 10-7 after the first quarter, but Lenape, the No. 5 seed, rallied tie the score at 21 at halftime.

However, Absegami used a strong showing in the third period to pull away for good and take a 36-28 lead.

The Lady Braves will face No. 2 seed Cherokee in the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association Group IV South final on Tuesday, March 6 in Williamstown.

Christina Foggie scored 15 points for Lenape.
